League of Legends: Katarina

So I've been playing this game called League of Legends lately and I really like a lot of the character designs, so I did a lady named Katarina.  I played around with her clothing style and added my own touches and what not.
This actually started off as a warm-up sketch before I started to paint something else, but then I ended up getting carried away with it.  I'm not exactly sure if I'm finished with her since a few things still bother me (mainly clean up, weapons, lighting, and background)

So yeah, here's the progress.....
Here's a gif if you're too lazy to scroll down :P

cleaned up version of the sketch...

values

colors and face

hair face and adding little things

working on clothing and still messing with the face

shading and such

making sure the anatomy is okay haha.

and here's it's final state...not sure if i wanna do more to the background or just leave it.  i was also messing around with some lighting..but for now i'll just leave it.

thanks!

steampunk lady WIP

I decided to try something different for once and NOT focus mainly on the face.  I had fun actually drawing an outfit.  This is a character I created a year ago in one of my classes for an assignment.  I figured I'd try and do more with her.

The Progress Thus Far....

the sketch.

blocking in the colors.

i was feeling "eh" about this, but then i decided i liked her facing this way better. haha.

scribbling in highlights and such.

testing the rim lighting.

Adding even more shadows and highlights and tightening it up.

I was pretty surprised to see how much I actually did.

Playing around with textures and tones:

Where I left off for the night...a lot more to be done!

To be Continued.....

SO IT'S BEEN A WHILE

i've decided to start using this again while i make speed painting videos.
updates: i've now graduated art school and currently looking for a job!

anyhoo....here's the hi-res photo from the video i made of it!   https://vimeo.com/70072805
(soon to be posted on youtube in the future)

Maisie Williams as Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. (one of my absolute favorite characters)
Song- House Stark Theme from the Game of Thrones Soundtrack
This is the first portrait I've done on my new cintiq. I started off not painting how I use to, but then I fixed it haha. I know there's a lot more I could've done, but I was losing interest and I wanted to upload the video!
I need a new recording program because the one I use darkens the computer screen area that you aren't recording (hence why the reference is the video because I couldn't see it) Since I didn't want this to take too long, I just used the eye dropper on the painting itself instead of making a palette or guessing the colors.
